Mobilizing God's People to Joyfully Serve Him

I Peter 4:10-11

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

Christian Martial Arts

Hope Community Church is pleased to host a branch school of Keon Do Kwan Martial Arts.  Keon Do Kwan is Korean for "The Way of the Heavenly Family."  Our school of martial arts teaches Tae Kwon Do and Hap Ki Do styles along with a Biblical worldview and basis for all we do.  Teachings from the Bible are common in our classes, and form the basis for our training and development.

Founded by Master Robby Entrekin, 5th degree black belt in both Tae Kwon Do and Hap Ki Do and 3 time inductee to the Martial Arts Hall of Fame, Keon Do Kwon currently has schools in Anniston, AL, Hiram, GA as well as our school in Douglasville.

Classes in Douglasville are taught by Mr. Jarrett Ferguson, with occasional guest instructors from the other Keon Do Kwan Schools.

Classes are held at our Anneewakee Road facility on Tuesday evenings from 7 - 8 pm and on Saturday mornings from 10 - 11 am and 11- noon.  Ages 6 through adult are welcome at all classes.

All classes are open at no charge for those who would like to try martial arts training for a few classes before making a commitment.

LIFE Groups
LIFE Groups (Living In Fellowship Everyday) are the basic building block of ministry at Hope Community Church.  In a weekly LIFE Group, meeting outside the church building, relationships are formed and nurtured.  In these groups of 3-15 people, we build our relationships with one another, giving us a close-knit group of people we can trust, who will encourage and challenge us, and always care for us.  We build our relationship with God together, challenging each other to be the best we can be and to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.  We also learn to build relationships with the community around us and the world, seeking to work together to be a powerful force for good in Douglasville, West Georgia, and to the ends of the earth.
Neighborhood Connections Thru Canning Hunger Minis

Our "Neighborhood Connections Thru Canning Hunger" ministry is a part of a nation-wide movement with a two-fold purpose:

1.  Enable our church members to develop meaningful relationships with 20-25 famiiies right in their own neighborhoods.

2.  Combining our efforts to end the hunger problem in our own communities.

Accomplished through our existing Cell Group ministry, our Canning Hunger outreach is an ongoing attempt to show the love of Christ to both the hungry and needy in our communities, and to our friends and neighbors.

Once every two months, each member of a participating Cell Group leaves a doorhanger on the door of a predetermined number of homes directly surrounding their own, letting their friends know that it is "Canning Hunger" time again.  A few days later, as specified on the doorhangers, the participants return to the neighbors home to collect non-perishable food items that the neighbors have agreed to donate.  At the next Cell meeting, all members bring the collected food together.  It is AMAZING how much food is donated each month by our willing neighbors, who appreciate the convenience of helping the hungry through this ministry.  All of the food collected at Hope Community Church is then donated to the Warehouse of Hope Ministry to be distributed.

Time is spent each month in prayer for both those who receive the donated food items as well as for the neighbors who have donated the food.

Reaction from both the neighbors and participants have been tremendously positive.

If you would like more information on how you could join forces with Hope Community Church in "Canning Hunger, One Neighborhood at a Time," please call or e-mail the church office.
